Public assistance was designed as a temporary, in most cases, lifeline
to provide aid in times of trouble.
With the exception of the severely disabled, it was not meant to be a
lifetime grifting operation.
And trust me there are a LOT of people gaming the system and some are
probably your neighbors, the person you see driving a newer model car
and so forth.
Those types usually have their own business, mostly cash, 2 sets of
books and a smart accountant. They take advantage of every government
program they can (PPP, COVID,loans never to be paid back etc) and thus
are not paying taxes on most of it.
I'm glad that Trump is going after these lazy grifters because it means
that more funds are available for those people who really need the
help.
Something needs to be done because the country is in serious debt and
the Biden administration via open borders has allowed millions more
people many of whom have no intention of working and are leaching off
the government which means the hard working taxpayers are funding it.
It is not sustainable in the long term.
