Some of us don't want to pay Apple for the privilege of a good system.

Not a very clear picture, by the look of it.

As much happenstance as anything. Like if renting AWS EC2,
it would be whatever Amazon happens to use for that purpose.

If we were hauling loads on land surfaces, chances are
the (successful) vehicles would have round wheels.
Whether the traction power is, Ford or GM, isn't much
of the picture. The application doing the rendering, might matter.
Why do people get this so wrong?

The question is never simply: "Is it fast?"

The question is always: "Is it the most speed...

(and this is the bit everyone misses)

    ...for the MONEY?"

That Linux is used as the OS in render farms doesn't prove that Linux is faster.

It proves that you'll spend less for the speed.

The Visual Effects Society (VFX industry group) did a survey of its
members back in 2021. Their desktop installations were 60% Linux at
that time, and the overall trend was for that to grow.

Another interesting result from the survey was that they were using
little or no Adobe products. Not surprising, since Adobe products
    don’t run on Linux.

I have a dual boot (Debian Sid / Windows 11). The difference in speed is palpable.

Don't know about Mac. Don't have money for Mac.
