    I don't know about anyone else, but on the X Window system I'm using (and used to), you get a system menu pop up when you hold down the left button while on the root menu (parlance: background, blank desktop, etc). Of course, I'm used to it, but I really like it. Additionally, if I have too many windows open & can't see the background, I'll just move a window just
