I'm looking for ideas for "games"/contests/competitions
to use in teaching programming skills to young kids.
Ideally, things that can be mapped onto animatronic devices
(for more of a "spectator sport" to drum up enthusiasm and
pride).
The goal won't be to teach *a* programming language but,
rather, to teach the design of algorithms and reifying those
in some <arbitrary> language (including /ad hoc/ languages).
