Hi Everyone,
The 6th beta of the new open-source Kermit 95 (currently named C-Kermit
for Windows, will be named Kermit 95 again in the next release) is
available now from The Kermit Project:
https://kermitproject.org/ckw10beta.html
https://github.com/davidrg/ckwin/releases/tag/10.0beta.11-6
If you've not heard of Kermit 95s return to active development, the
major highlights of the past six betas are:
* New 3 clause BSD license
* New modern up-to-date SSH backend (libssh) - functional but the
K95 integration is not yet feature complete (X11 and port
forwarding along with a few other features are currently missing)
* Port to 64bit Windows on x86-64, ARM64, Itanium and Alpha
* OpenSSL updated to the latest version
* Kerberos V support updated
* Upgraded from C-Kermit 8.0 to C-Kermit 10.0
* Support for legacy Windows has been retained (and even extended)
but without secure communications support (SSH/SSL/TLS). This
includes support for MIPS, Alpha and PowerPC editions of
Windows NT.
* PTYs are now supported on Windows 10 1809 or newer
* Mouse wheel and terminal mouse reporting
* a large number of bug fixes and other enhancements, many of which
were intended to be released as Kermit 95 v2.2 back before all
development ceased in the 2000s
At this time only Windows is supported, but I hope to get OS/2 support
back in place eventually. It does build but there are a handful of bugs
that impact its usefulness at the moment and I'm not an OS/2 developer
so fixing them will take some time.
