as the best CRPG of all time. I must have completed it over a dozen
times with every possible combination of NPC's and playing
characters. I don't think I've completed any other RPG more than
    twice.
I loved the story of Planescape Torment more but it didn't have same
replay value as BG2. Other honourable mentions must go to the Gothics, >Morrowind, the Fallouts, Wizardry 8 and going back a few years to the
    Eye of the Beholder games.

PS. I never played any Ultima's until recently.

    In alfabetical order:

    Anachronox
    Baldur's Gate 2
    Eye of the Beholder 2
    Darklands
    Fallout
Realms of Arkania 2 - Star Trail
    Ultima Underworld 2

hmmm.. it seems I have a bit of a thing for sequels.. :)

Ah, reviving 15-year old threads. Such is the wonder and majesty of
Google groups. May I recommend a free NNTP provider such as https://www.eternal-september.org/ ?

Well, regardless of the necroposting, the topic itself is interesting
enough to deserve reviving, even if nobody will read it because
c.s.i.p.g.rpg is practically dead. And, with fifteen years of
progress, there are certainly more games to add to the list.

So, some of the CRPGs I find the most memorable?
    Bards Tale
    Baldur's Gate
    Dragon Wars
Gold Box Games (esp. Pool of Radiance & Curse o/t Azure Bonds)
    Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim
    Gothic 1 & 2
    Planescape
Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic
    System Shock 2
    Ultima series (esp. 4, 5, 7 & Underworld)
    Witcher 3

    Honorable mention also goes to
    Anachronox
    Arx Fatalis
    Darklands
    Deus Ex
    Eye of the Beholder
    Mass Effect
    Might & Magic
any games of series mentioned above that didn't get a specific
shout-out (so, all the other Gold Box games, the other Elder Scrolls
    games, etc)

I was curious if I'd posted to this so I could see what I thought 14 years ago, but nope. I probably posted to a number of other similar threads though.

Fallout 1, 2 & 3 (4, NV, tactics and bof don't quite make the cut)
    V:TM Bloodlines
    KotoR
    Skyrim
Dark Souls (not sure that really counts though)

I've got many others, but they haven't held up well when I've retried them.

Between how restrictive CRPGs generally are (compared to tabletop) and
how CRPG mechanics have infilitrated all genres, we might as well
count Dark Souls as a CRPG. I mean, no, you aren't really doing any role-playing in Dark Souls* but it does have stats and progression and
that is pretty much the bulk of what a CRPG is.

Of course, that means very few computer games these days are /not/
CRPGs but as a CRPG nerd I don't have a problem with that ;-)

*at least, not in anyway that affects the game; you can pretend that
your Hollowed warrior is Princess Marmalot of the Tickly-Fairies but
it isn't going to change how you have to fight the Asylym Demon one
    jot
