I'm excited for HL3, but not so much as I was for HL2.

I was just thinking about which game release date last genuinely
excited me. I think it was Tiny Tina's Wonderlands.

I think there are far more games to be had these days. When game
releases seemed few and far between the anticipation was greater, for
    me at least anyway.

My last one was Talos Principle II as I loved TP:I and have replayed it
about three times. Unfortunately it was a bit of a disappointment as it
just don't capture me in the same way. Part of it I feel was sequels are
rarely as good a game experience as the first time in but more
importantly I think they went too far with the narrative aspect of the game.

In TP:1 the narrative part was there, and I enjoyed it, but it never
felt like it got in the way of just solving puzzles.

No, what I'm really interested in is: what product is Valve going to
attach "Half Life 3" to. Will it be a VR exclusive? A SteamDeck
exclusive? Some new version of Steam? Some sort of cloud-streaming subscription? Because I doubt Valve will allow the game to release
/without/ taking advantage of its marketability to the fullest.

There are rumors of a new Valve VR headset with inside out tracking also
there are rumors of a new steam console after their first failed attempt
they now havwe a better software base to make inroads in this segment.
But as usual with Valve they will drop the news when they are ready and

Unless I have forgotten about any imminently upcoming games, my next

Doom: The Dark Ages is on Gamepass, but I have very little appetite

6 hours cumulative over a few weeks. I really thought I liked it, and

I had the same experience with Doom: Eternal. I got bored with it very
quickly. Those games should have been automatic likes for me, but they
just didn't hook me in any meaningful way.

I can't think of any other games on the immediate horizon that I wish
    for.

I tell myself that I would really like to see a Half-Life 3 soon, an
Unreal 3, or a Tiny Tina's Wonderlands sequel.

I think the first and the third are coming. But Unreal seems to be a
    dead and buried franchise.

Further in the distance is Hellgate: Redemption which is supposedly
being made by some of the original Flagship Studios team. That is
another game that I will willing pay good money for on day one.

I'd like to say the same but I'm not sure, BL3 was already a somewhat
mixed bag. Streamlined faster combat, even worse writing than before (or
maybe I'm even further away from the target demographics), powerful
characters and event-added superweapons presumably to power through the
tedium. That part worked, I think my second playthrough wouldn't have
happened without. Third playthrough was with the soldier, her mech
turned out to be superweapon enough. The robot guy was even more OP pre-nerfing. Playing with the operative at least had more challenge but
he too gets his impenetrable shield going almost all the time pretty
    fast.

I wondered before if they'll just automate the fights for BL4? Or just
have a parkour button and a fight button for controls? Or maybe that's
going too far. There were some pretty cool character skills and skill
interplay in BL3, one skill boosting another, but you needed a guide to
    figure that out.

I have to agree, I still play on occasion and every time I go back to
the ship there's these guys (Axton and Salvador) pushing the second
batch of DLCs. Or maybe just one of them, not sure.

I got the initial batch of four DLCs but they weren't that good. There
was a horror themed one and a western themed one and I can't even
remember the others. Oh, now that I checked, the first one was a kind of
BL2 throwback, a heist on some Hyperion space station. So lots of the
loader bots and I remember this was actually fun. Only issue, BL3 isn't
so heavy on needing corrosive weapons so I didn't have much but I think
the DLC drops may have been tuned with that in mind.

The last DLC was a trip inside Krieg's head. I'm not sure I finished. I
like the idea, it's a bit like old Alice with a mind trip to improve
someone's mental health. But still, it was pretty weird and I don't
recall if Krieg got any less mad. Probably not.

I enjoyed playing the girl with the mech, but didn't have any interest
in continuing after finishing the game with her. I can't see myself
    buying BL 4.

I specifically wanted to see if she was going to be any less OP in PT2
but no. I was so amazed I just went and finished PT2 with her :) I mean,
for sure she was a little more vulnerable when on foot but in the mech
nothing could touch her. I think with some of the bosses you had to
fight on foot at least some of the time so there was that but that still
    didn't really change anything, difficulty-wise.

And with the legendary class mod you get twice the time in the mech
which is enough to be there almost all the time, the cooldown finishes
    before the mech self destructs.

With the exception of the General Knoxx DLC for BL1, every other DLC
for all three of the Borderlands so far has been awful.

I particularly disliked all of the BL2 DLC's and was really
disappointed by them as BL2 is a really good game. I have recently
replayed BL2 and came away with a new appreciation of BL2 in terms of
its place in my rankings of BL2 games.

In order of preference my favourite is Borderlands 1, followed by BL2
    and then BL3

I preferred Tiny Tina's Wonderlands over Borderlands 3, but that's not
to say that I dislike BL3, far from it.

Even the BL PS was OK

Moze was my least favorite character in BL3 and I never once went
    beyond PT1 with my character.

FL4K was just about OK but I much preferred Zane and then Amara, in
    that order.

In Tiny Tina's Wonderlands my preferred character is the Spore Warden,
but an added bonus of TTW is that you can mix and match character
skill trees after gaining the basic skills for your class. The Spore
Warden skill tree allows for your pet to have a chance to revive you
if you get killed, assuming that you can keep your pet Spore alive.

You can play any character and then add a Spore Warden's early skill
tree perks (obviously limited by available skill points).

Being revived by your pet is a real boon, especially during boss
fights which are particularly tough (and annoying) in TTW's.

Perhaps a subject for a new thread? I *HATE* boss fights, always have
done, always will do too. I have abandoned many a game because of the
    boss mechanic.

Good games too that I have never touched again due to annoying boss
    fights. The curse of 'consolitis'.

Probably all the shovelware indy games that get given away everywhere

FL4K was just about OK but I much preferred Zane and then Amara, in
    that order.

Hmm, I think my Amara playthrough went nowhere, maybe I should get back
to it. I don't really have a preference for the characters, I started
with Zane since I liked playing Wilhelm in TPS who was much the same,
then fl4k, then Amara briefly, then Moze.

Perhaps a subject for a new thread? I *HATE* boss fights, always have
done, always will do too. I have abandoned many a game because of the
    boss mechanic.

I don't much care for boss fights either, especially difficult ones. But
if I can muddle through somehow with, say, less than 20 tries, it's ok.
