Never say itch.io, the Indie publishing platform, is afraid to dip its
toes in politics. Whether its for trans rights, in support of Ukraine,
or other worthy causes, they'll rally their followers and give away a
bunch of games to boot. Well, 'give away' is a bit of an exaggeration;
you gotta contribute to the cause to get the game, but when it's
several hundred titles for a tenner, it's close enough to free that
it's the same thing.
Of course, this being itch.io and Indie games, a lot of the titles
aren't going to be of interesting or, frankly, very good... but the
games are really the excuse. And there are always a few nuggets worthy
of actually playing, even if finding them can be something of a chore. >(myself, I think "Beyond the Chiron Gate", a sort of "Elite Dangerous" >crossed with "Zork" looks intriguing... but there's a wide variety of
games to chose from. Just don't expect anything near triple-A quality;
these are bedroom-coder games).
Anyway, this time itch.io is supporting the Immigrant Defenders Law
Center, an "LA based law firm that defends immigrant communities".
Whatever your opinion on immigration -in the US or elsewhere- the way
the current US Administration has been going about it is something
everyone should be concerned about. Violating the constitutionally
protected due-process rights is a blight on a civilized society, and
the USian immigration police's methodology is frighteningly close to >police-state tactics. Even if you aren't a USian, stopping bullshit
like that happening in the world's most heavily armed super-power is a
cause worth supporting, because if a country doesn't even care about
the rights of its own people, then it sure as hell won't care about
the rights of people beyond its borders. I'll happily throw in a
tenner if that'll help keep me safe.

Um how is a country kicking out illegals "not caring about it's own
people"?
It is in fact caring about it's own people and kicking out a bunch of queue-jumpers who are not citizens and have no right to be in the
country at all.
Legal immigrants have nothing to worry about, only the illegals the left
wing is painting as the backbone of America and American progress -
funny how they continually conflate immigrant amd illegal immigrant.
Yes Einstein and other immigrants had a profound affect on America, but
they came to America legally, they didn't sneak in, nor were they career criminals before arriving.

Trump can say anything he likes, but he can't deport citizens.
Not a power he has, not a power any branch of the gov't has or any
agency.

multiple courts.
Multiple circuit courts have made rulings that were then slapped down
by the supreme court(s) as over-reaching those judges' actual judicial authority.

The fact that you split the country into Republican and Democratic strongholds bothers me.
ICE is hardly "private-army troops".
Aimed at cities that welcome illegal immigrant criminals is not the same thing as "aiming at a democratic stronghold."
Unless of course you are saying that "democratic stronghold" and "hotbed
of crime" are synonymous.
You cast your line/net where the fish are.
You look for the criminals where they are, not at random or where you
know they aren't.

Unfortunately the Trump administrator doesn't really care about what
the law says. The part I find most strange is those that are the most
vocal about American values (whatever they are) are the ones cheering
him on.
Their version of "American values" come from the Bible. And many of
them are finding out the reality of what they were advocating is NOT
what they actually want and some of them will probably die as a result.
