We finally got to get over the border and with minimal hassle. At the crossing I got a “parfait” and bon voyage from immigration after a
quick passport and COVID paperwork check. Filling out all the forms
on the web was easy except for picking out the correct crossing
point. That could be easier. I had no idea there were so many on the
Quebec border!
We are in Canada for 5 days after a week in Cape Cod and Bar Harbor.
I’ll never go back to Cape Cod again. What a waste of time that was. Nothing much to see and terrible traffic.
Just saw the announcement about Parallels 18. Microsoft and Parallels
decided to play nice and allow the licensed W11 Arm on Mac M-series
silicon. Big news for Parallels. I may have to take another look at
the MacBook now that Windows on it is not an issue. Probably ought to
give it a few months for the kinks to get worked out.
OTOH the Alder Lake in the Dell XPS is getting rave reviews for
battery life and performance.

understand the lack of interest in the Cape - it seems that it is the "Shore" for most

I'm planning on that maybe next year, but no visit to Liarboy Baker.

"PCMark 10 Battery Life: 12:01"
<https://www.techradar.com/reviews/dell-xps-15-2022>
But PC Mag didn't even include it in their "Best Battery Life Laptops
for 2022", which was won by Apple's MacBook Air M1 at 29 hours, 1 minute.
<https://www.pcmag.com/picks/the-best-battery-life-laptops>
My XPS experience has been very good but not perfect. Just a few >>>>> day’s ago it locked with a BSD error. Except the screen was not >>>>> blue.
BFD, we all know the Mac story. My standard is what I have, it's double what I'm seeing with my XPS 15.
"is getting rave reviews for battery life"
But PCMag doesn't even give it an honourable mention in an article
called: "Best Battery Life Laptops for 2022"
So please point us toward one of these "rave reviews", Liarbo
Yes it is, "The 2022 Dell XPS 15 delivers laptop perfection" and 5 stars out of 5.https://www.techradar.com/reviews/dell-xps-15-2022That's definitely a rave review.
Now, before you claim 20 hours of battery life for a Mac keep in mind this is a 15" model with port specs similar to the 16" Mac and an OLED screen.
16" Mac battery life 15:31 https://www.tomsguide.com/news/macbook-pro-2021-battery-life-tested-heres-how-they-stack-up#:~:text=As%20revealed%20by%20our%20Tom%E2%80%99s%20Guide%20battery%20tests%2C,impressive%20considering%20the%20power%20under%20their%20respective%20hoods.
15" XPS battery life and another rave review "Dell XPS 15 OLED (2022) review: A great MacBook Pro alternative
The XPS 15 OLED remains an exceptional Windows laptop"
Battery life: 10:05 up from 7:00 prior version https://www.tomsguide.com/reviews/dell-xps-15-oled-2022-review-a-great-macbook-pro-alternativeI’d certainly consider going from 7 to 10 hours a good healthy improvement, but
Not as good as the Mac, but the comparable Mac is not 20+ hours either
that doesn’t mean it’s in the class of those long battery life products today. Case in point:
Looks like at least for this product comparison, the worst performer was 11 hours.

We are in Canada for 5 days after a week in Cape
Cod and Bar Harbor. I’ll never go back to Cape
Cod again. What a waste of time that was. Nothing
much to see and terrible traffic.
Just saw the announcement about Parallels 18.
Microsoft and Parallels decided to play nice and
allow the licensed W11 Arm on Mac M-series
silicon. Big news for Parallels. I may have to
take another look at the MacBook now that Windows
on it is not an issue. Probably ought to give it
a few months for the kinks to get worked out.
OTOH the Alder Lake in the Dell XPS is getting
rave reviews for battery life and performance.
My XPS experience has been very good but not
perfect. Just a few day’s ago it locked with a
BSD error. Except the screen was not blue.
The SE 2 and iPad 7 soldier on. The wife’s aging
Moto phone is going to need a replacement soon. I
about have her convinced to try out iPhone.
My very basic YouTube channel has taught me a few
video tricks. Next I need to find time to further
explore the software and up my game considerably.
That will require new hardware too. My iPhone and
Hero 5 are not up to the task.
Mercifully that’s all for now. Bonjour from
Quebec!
you could have stopped in for a visit with Alan!
I'm planning on that maybe next year, but no visit to
Liarboy Baker. He is a despicable human being. We
have actual friends out there. The plan is Calgary
for the Stampede, then Vancouver and Vancouver
Island, south to Seattle and Portland to see some
friends, and home via a few national parks we have
missed. Sequoia is the main one.
What is THE most "despicable" thing you claim I've
done?
On so many occasions cherry picked information to make a
point while ignoring contradictory data.
Before you say it, that makes me despicable. :) Reversed,
the last two words make a great movie title :)
...you're trying to turn it into a joke now...
...because you actually know you owe me an apology.
No I don't. You owe me an apology for the times you have
accused me of lying when there was no proof at all, Liarboy
What is known is that for "despicable" you basically equated it
with making invalid arguments.
And you are sufficiently well educated to know what the word
"despicable" means.
Alan, your misogynous Facebook meme on women by itself makes the
despicable category. Ever look at yourself in the mirror?
Now you're reaching to cover yourself.
No, I'm not. It's not even me that came up with the adjective. A few
months back I read your misogynous and demeaning quote to my wife.
Quote from her: "What a despicable human being!" Strange that said
you think it's humor. No wonder you have apparently never been
married.
First: it wasn't what you first claimed.
Second: you read it to your wife?
Third: what ordinary person would pick "despicable" to describe
something so innocuous.
You lie again. The wife said it first. Prove she didn't.

No, I'm not. It's not even me that came up with the adjective. First: it wasn't what you first claimed.
Second: you read it to your wife?
Third: what ordinary person would pick "despicable" to describe >>>>>>>> something so innocuous.
You lie again. The wife said it first. Prove she didn't.

The point is that she comes at it from a different perspective from you or me. You look at that quote as humorous. If you act out the attitude it expresses you are a tone-deaf chauvinistic pig in the eyes of a lot of women.
It wasn't what you first claimed was "despicable".
