    There are just two types of hard drives:-

    1. Those that have failed, and

    2. Those that are GOING to fail.

    It's not until you have lost all your photographs the for the very first
    time that you will really understand the importance of back-ups! ;-)

    There are some VERY good deals on pre-owned Apple iMacs nowadays.

    If you find that the macOS is just too difficult for you to handle, you
    can, if you wish, run a Linux distro of your choice on the hardware.

    Guess, what I do for many years. I do not talk about it, I just do it.
    My MBAir works very well with Linux Mint Cinnamon 20.03.

    I did not do a restore not because it is difficult, there was simply no necessity to such Windows-Style exercises.
