• Installation of garamondx fonts failed

    From Marc Ensenbach@21:1/5 to All on Mon Mar 10 17:37:32 2025
    Hello,

    I have just tried to install the garamondx fonts (and others) for
    TeXLive 2025 with

    getnonfreefonts --sys -a

    The script finished without any errors:

    Checking integrity of file 'garamondx.zip'... [ok]

    e199a485e98f1467ba5965618d298167 garamondx.zip [MD5sum ok]

    Extracting 'garamondx.zip'... [done]
    Installing 'zgm.map'... [done]
    [...]
    Running 'mktexlsr /usr/local/texlive/texmf-local >/dev/null 2>/dev/null' ... [done]

    Updating map files (updmap-sys). Be patient... [done]

    But compiling the file

    \documentclass{article}

    \usepackage[T1]{fontenc}
    \usepackage{garamondx}

    \begin{document}
    Test
    \end{document}

    with pdflatex, I ran into an error:

    [1{/usr/local/texlive/2025/texmf-var/fonts/map/pdftex/updmap/pdftex.map}] (./test.aux)
    kpathsea: Running mktexpk --mfmode / --bdpi 600 --mag 1+0/600 --dpi 600 T1-zgm-r-lf
    mktexpk: don't know how to create bitmap font for T1-zgm-r-lf.
    mktexpk: perhaps T1-zgm-r-lf is missing from the map file.
    kpathsea: Appending font creation commands to missfont.log.
    )
    !pdfTeX error: pdflatex (file T1-zgm-r-lf): Font T1-zgm-r-lf at 600 not found
    Fatal error occurred, no output PDF file produced!

    Does anyone have an idea about what went wrong? How can I fix this?

    I am happy to provide further details in case they are necessary.

    Regards

    Marc
