Today I picked up the May issue of the BBC Music Magazine.
Those who find the conducting of Christian Thielemann to their liking,
of which there are two, possibly three, on this newsgroup (latest
count), may be interested to know that Barry Millington reviews his
latest record, Wagner preludes and excerpts with the Philadelphia
    Orchestra in this issue.
Barry Millington gives it five stars (out of five possible) both for performance and recording. He concludes his review with saying that on
this evidence, Thielemann's first complete Wagner opera on record,
when it finally comes, will be a landmark event.
Moreover, it gets the magazine's symbol for recorded performances of outstanding qualites.
I have an aunt who telephoned me and told me she liked the record very
much. She likes the way Thielemann conducts Beethoven, Pfiztner,
Schumann, R Strauss and Wagner, but recognizes that his way is not the
only way to conduct these composers.
