I understand that you have some reservations about using Wayland,
particularly with older NVIDIA cards and certain applications.
I want to clarify that Wayland itself is a modern and ready display
server protocol. However, it's up to individual application developers
to adapt their apps to work with Wayland. While many popular
applications have already been adapted to work with Wayland, some
developers have not yet updated their apps, which can lead to
compatibility issues.
If you encounter issues with specific applications on Wayland, I would recommend reaching out to the developers and encouraging them to adapt
their apps to work with Wayland. In the meantime, you can continue to
use X11 until you are ready to switch to Wayland or until your hardware
and applications are fully compatible with it.
I hope this clarifies any confusion you may have had about Wayland and
its compatibility.
Best regards

GNOME on Wayland is more than ready now.
Even if I have an older NVIDIA card? Or like to use older xlib or
motif based applications? What about certain applications such as
using electronic or specific other ones like skype having less
functionality on wayland than X11? I know GNOME has been striving hard
to fix things, but for some things, I just don't see wayland as ready
yet. Now, if very recently things I listed have improved, by all means
let me know please.

Debian 13 will be shipped with GNOME 47, however GNOME on Wayland

doesn't and only a few minor issues are there that works on X.org

How is debian going to tackle the possibility of GNOME next release
(48 this march) removing the X11 code entirely? There are plans to
very soon remove it, I recall 47 by default doesn't ship with a
desktop xsession entry. So is debian going to deliberately stick
with 47 for debian 13? Because I just don't see the GNOME wayland
ready yet and need to keep sticking around with X until then.
