• netboot's kernel version does not match linux-image-amd64

From ignisc@tuta.io@21:1/5 to All on Tue Apr 25 18:00:01 2023
    Package: debian-installer-12-netboot-amd64
    Version: 20230217

    Dear Maintainer,

The package uses linux 6.1.0-3 whereas linux-image-amd64 uses linux 6.1.0-7. This makes anna installer fail on pxe-boot with message:

anna[4720]: WARNING **: no packages matching running kernel 6.1.0-3-amd64 in archive

If we follow the installation without kernel modules, the install crashes.

If my observation is correct, I suggest to update this package to the right kernel version.

    Regards,

    Ignisc

That's an old image. For Bookworm (Debian 12) the kernel is currently at 6.1.20-2. Where did you find this installer? Could you try a newer one?

That's indeed an old image, but with the most recent daily netinst [0]
    the problem is reproducible.

But if you use the Bookworm RC1 installer, it does work: https://cdimage.debian.org/cdimage/bookworm_di_rc1/

Daily builds are (afaik) often 'problematic' because as soon as a new kernel version (with an ABI bump) is uploaded to Unstable (like 6.1.25-1 now), then things get out of sync.

In unstable and in testing, I forgot to upload d-i-n-i for the last
    release:

    debian-installer-netboot-images | 20230217 | testing | source
    debian-installer-netboot-images | 20230217 | unstable | source

That being said, with D-I Bookworm RC 2 coming up in a few hours/days, I
don't think it makes sense to catch up right now (the kernel has already
    moved on as you noted).

    Cheers,
