The legendary Amarok is playing music again!

And it retrieves and scrolls the text of the song currently playing.

    I love it!

I have the flexible layout again. Can drag and drop things around and so
    on. Awesome.

    Hi!

    Amarok 3.0.1 in Debian experimental!

    How nice is that?

I removed my old configuration as the main window layout looked a bit
    awkward with it.

Still currently the middle pane did not show anything initially. Even
after adding something that some thing briefly appeared and disappeared.
But after some resizing of the panes inside the window and trying again,
    it works.

The legendary Amarok is playing music again!

Thank you Amarok developers and thank you Pino!

Currently Amarok is still Qt 5 based – well that in itself is a feat as it needed to be ported to that! –, there is hope for Qt 6 based version later this year.

    Best,

Can you send pictures how does it look like now?
Does it have smart playlists, like Strawberry Music Player, or old Winamp?

Greatm but currently not met dependancy on my bookworm system.

You need unstable or maybe testing (soon for sure) for that. It is in experimental after all.

And my own built does core dump within cover manager.
    Back to old days...

Cover Manager works here and downloaded covers.

Would not like to attach an image to mailing list. There should be some images online already. I'd rather not go through the hassle to scrub an
image for privacy, upload it somewhere and then post a link here.

When you press Print Screen key on your keyboard, you have an option to
upload directly to Imgur (in KDE's Spectacle tool). In Export / Share /
    Imgur menu. Like this:

    https://i.imgur.com/v68Xl7j.png

Exactly the same option exists in Gwenview, default KDE image viewer.

And of course, when you do a screenshot, use Rectangle Region area
option, Active Window. That way, you only capture what you want, not an
    entire desktop.

Does it have smart playlists, like Strawberry Music Player, or old
    Winamp?

    Pretty similar than before.

Not sure what you refer to with smart playlists. I do not know Strawberry Music Player and Winamp. Old Amarok had some auto DJ feature where it
would add titles based on what is already in playlist. However I do not
see that in Amarok 3 at the moment.

There may still be some features from the old Amarok missing.

I used Amarok briefly years ago, but I don't remember if it has dynamic playlists (smart playlists like Strawberry player calls it). I am still
not settled on music player. My simple requirement is that I can create
a playlist, which dynamically loads songs, for example filter based on
name, or song length, or number of stars in the rating, or my play
count. If music player does not have this feature is pretty much useless
to manage a big music collection, because I can't even load my favourite
    songs.

But I am unwilling to. I am simply not your personally screenshot service provider.

If you like to know how it looks like why do you not invest some time
instead of requesting that I do?

Especially as it does not look any different than what is shown in the mini picture at https://amarok.kde.org/ as well as the pictures on:

    https://amarok.kde.org/en/screenshots.html

(At least I don't see any difference, maybe there are slight changes I did
    not recognize.)

So sure I *can* provide screenshots, but I am unwilling to take the time
to do it. So I am not doing it, no matter how hard you try to persuade me.

Especially as I also would scrub them for privacy as its my business as to what music I listen to. And this takes time as well. Anyway I do not even
need to justify it. I am unwilling to invest any time, so… that is about
    it.

You kindly asked, and I kindly said "no". Can we leave it at that?

    Thanks,

You still not learned to use rectangle area selection tool? You don't
need to send ENTIRE desktop screenshot anywhere, did you know that?
Besides, no one cares about your wallpaper and desktop icons, lol.

Just in case you are angry enough to point out to me, that it is the
MUSIC you care so much about, and want to preserve privacy of your
playlists and not icons and desktop wallpaper - let me tell you, no one
    cares about it either.

It doesn't seem that you know exactly how to use it though, please read
    below about rectangle selection tool.

But I am unwilling to. I am simply not your personally screenshot service provider.

If you are unwilling to talk to a fellow user and do as simple thing as screenshot, why do you bother to post here about new Amarok version? Why
    waste time?

If you like to know how it looks like why do you not invest some time

I am not bothered how it looks. I seek information about smart playlists
I told you about. I naively thought, a person who posts excitedly about
new Amarok version, will be friendly enough to open Amarok which he
already have installed from experimental repository, and check. Or do as
simple thing as screenshot. But looks like, I was wrong about you, you
are simply a selfish d**k, not a friendly fellow user.

Especially as it does not look any different than what is shown in the mini picture at https://amarok.kde.org/ as well as the pictures on: > https://amarok.kde.org/en/screenshots.html

Your first post mention something else. Quote:

So which is it? The same, or different with problems, or what?

So sure I *can* provide screenshots, but I am unwilling to take the time

I am not persuading you to do anything, I kindly asked about smart
playlists and screenshot to help to determine if this functionality is
    there.

Especially as I also would scrub them for privacy as its my business as to what music I listen to. And this takes time as well. Anyway I do not even need to justify it. I am unwilling to invest any time, so… that is about it.

Yes, let's leave you in your selfish hole where you've been until now.
    Goodbye, Martin.
