    Hi,

after latest upgrade, I don't know exactly when, but within the

I don't know why but the only one item which is restored is
    Firefox.
Kmail, Konsole, Krusader are not restored.

Is this some known bug ?

Maybe you switched to the Wayland session ?
In which case yes this is a known bug, with a first workaround only
in the yet-to-be-released Plasma 6.1 version.

I can second this. I too am still on X11 and the last update (Debian 12) killed the restore-session functionality.

Not sure whether it is related, but I can confirm for Devuan Ceres which is based on Debian Unstable.

Additionally I had it that when I close (and thus save) an activity and
then open it again did come up empty instead of with the applications I
had open in there before. It is not directly reproducible within a running session. But it is reproducible as follows:

    1) Open an activity.

    2) Open a Konsole window in it.

    3) Close the activity.

    4) Log out and log in again.

    5) Open the activity.

Result: The activity is coming up as empty, the Konsole window is not remembered. As I rely heavily on that feature it is quite a nuisance for
me. I can open a bug report or well first search whether the upstream bug tracker has something on it.

This is a multi-part message in MIME format.

    Hi,
Since these messages, the last one dating from June 9, the bug is still there at least for me
Debian Sid, I read the messages concerning this Bug listed No. 487936 which was
classified as normal which I do not understand because it is very embarrassing .
In addition to these problems, I don't know if it's related since these updates,
Firefox is no longer able to automatically restore the session when closing Dolphin is also
    very unstable.

    Hi Philippe.

    MERLIN Philippe - 03.07.24, 15:48:45 CEST:
Since these messages, the last one dating from June 9, the bug is still
there at least for me Debian Sid, I read the messages concerning this
Bug listed No. 487936 which was classified as normal which I do not understand because it is very embarrassing . In addition to these
problems, I don't know if it's related since these updates, Firefox is
no longer able to automatically restore the session when closing
    Dolphin is also very unstable.

    I understand your frustration but:

    1. Debian Sid is also called Debian Unstable. If you expect a stable
system at all times… well you can expect as much as you like… but it does not automatically happen that way.

    2. Debian Qt/KDE developers are busy working at Plasma 6 and all what is needed for that. They work in their free time. And as such it should be
fair enough to decide what to work on, when to work and how to prioritize their work!

    3. Severity guidelines¹ describe the next severity after "normal" as: "a
bug which has a major effect on the usability of a package, without
rendering it completely unusable to everyone". And certainly Plasma is not completely unusable for everyone.

That written: It would indeed be nice in case someone of them would upload
a fix for that. And I'd say feel free to ping them *friendly* (!) on IRC or through their mailing list.

Is a Debian bug reported about this? If not it could help to report a
Debian bug and reference the upstream bug:

kde-plasma/plasma-workspace 5.27.11.1: ksmserver fails to save and later restore a session

    https://bugs.kde.org/487936

It is not reasonable to expect Debian Qt/KDE developers to monitor this
mailing list frequently. Again: They work in their spare time!

But that written: I mentioned it on their IRC channel. But of course it is
up to them whether to prioritize doing fixed Plasma 5 packages over getting Plasma 6 done.
