Hello,
After updating my system this morning (testing), I see that the right
panel in Dolphin (now at 24.12.somethingorother), where all the metadata
is displayed (called the File Preview panel, IIRC), has gone. This
panel, was I believe, activated by F11. However, I can't find any
setting to reactivate it. Pressing F11 also achieves nothing. F7, F4
etc. all continue to do what they're supposed to.

yes, good catch.
Rik Mills from Kubuntu stepped into the same issue and pinged me that I built Dolphin with a too old version of baloo-widgets, which causes this problem.
I’ve just uploaded dolphin 4:24.12.0.1-2 to unstable which should be installable in the next couple of hours and will fix the issue.
