Will be released a KF5-based version for support of KF5-based KIO apps?
For example thumbnails for kf5 applications no longer work.

I don't have an answer to that but out of curiosity which apps are you using that are still Qt5/KF5 ?

    Thanks,

Just please note that's an ancient list, which comes from the first Qt6 release. There have been 3 releases of Gear after that (24.05, 24.08 and
24.12) and several Qt5/KF5 applications have been ported to Qt6/KF6.

    https://store.kde.org/p/1126798
it uses qfiledialog and thumbnails do not work

the version with qt6 do not build for this

    https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=1091316

Maybe fix the issue that prevents this Qt6 application to build?

(that said, given that KF5 is still going to be supported in Trixie, having kio-extras-kf5 in the repository may still be useful)

    Ciao

The main difference being that Frameworks still has somewhat active KF5 branches that upstream gives a (minimum) care about.

The last kio-extras with a supported KF5/Qt5 version on the other hand is 23.08 and then the support for KF5/Qt5 was dropped entirely. [1]

So no, I don’t think kio-extras-kf5 is happening (at least I won’t be doing it).

    Happy hacking,
