Wow, I didn’t realize people were still using X11.
How are your xmodlines doing ? :-P

I stay with X11 (and it's years since there are no more xmodlines) till everything works in wayland. And that's not the case yet.

    Bug report on upstream tracker:

kwin is crashing whenever I plug/unplug HDMI external LCD

    https://bugs.kde.org/499846

However it is not exactly unusable. After a few crashes I usually have the setup I want. :)

A fix has already been proposed and as soon as a package with that fix enters the archive you should be fine.

I’ve just uploaded kwin (4:6.3.0-2) with the fix to unstable.

Yeah that’s fine don’t worry and sorry for the bad joke.
I wouldn’t have uploaded the fix mere hours after the issue was reported if I didn’t care.

    Hi Erwan. Hi.

Haha, I still remember using both "gtf" and "cvt" to generate mode lines.

Care to elaborate what issues with Wayland you still have?

Last time I tried basically everything worked for me, even fractional
scaling within Firefox but… I got a black screen in Nextcloud Talk in full screen mode in Firefox.

I intend to try Wayland again with Plasma 6.3 which is a new major
release. Also there have been several Firefox releases since my last
attempt. But it can be painful. After each switch I need to adapt Plasma configuration as widgets get repositioned in crazy ways, mouse pointer acceleration works differently and so on.

I sure hope that Wayland works well enough for me and you and everyone
else soon. It is not that I beg to stay on X11. I like to move. But
everything needs to work just fine(TM).

I had this with Pulseaudio back then. I had it with Network Manager back
then. Probably a dozen of "does is work?" switch cycles to them with
switching back disappointedly cause something did not work. Pipewire is
quite the exception. After I finally switched to it a few days ago: No
issues whatsoever so far. However I did not try Bluetooth so far as I
disabled necessary Qualcomm driver as it breaks both hibernation and
suspend big time on this ThinkPad T14 AMD Gen 5.

Haha. It all started as you could not resist to tease me on IRC as I
    reported the issue. :)

But fair enough, you patched the package!

I wouldn’t have uploaded the fix mere hours after the issue was reported
    if I didn’t care.

    Thanks for that!

    Fix confirmed.

I'm still missing a nice way to do custom keyboard layouts.

Not those minor things with swapping a key or two, but rearranging at
    least 20% of the keys.

(I'm using a custom version of some-persons modified nordic dvorak that
isn't official and isn't really documented anywhere ...) Which is
us-dvorak but with number keys shift/alt like on danish/norwegian/swedish
and adding in danish letters in relevant places.

A tool or that was uploaded in Sid this week. I don't remember the name but I'm pretty sure it was located in x11 section

The touchpad of my 3-4 years old thinkpad is unsupported by libinput and the issue is WONTFIX.

No wayland for me until this laptop dies.

I use it with plasma-mobile on tablet but I can't use it on my laptop.

Last time I tried : not possible to put shortcuts on Meta+KP-key (I use
this for tiling, should be possible since It works in gnome)

No equivalent to wmctrl. It is a pain not to be able to
*programmaticaly* place all my windows (including the firefox windows,
once they get their title) at startup time on specific desktop

I use wmctrl for this, no equivalent in wayland.
