• 4:22.08 Mouse middle button paste

From Rob Brewer@21:1/5 to All on Mon Sep 12 16:00:01 2022
    Hi,

The upgrade to 4:22.08 in unstable seems to have lost the ability to paste
with the middle mouse button. Also the mouse middle button option is no
longer available in the Desktop Settings Plasmoid.

Do we know if there is a fix for this.

I understand that KDE PIM changes are coming down the pike. I'm on testing. From what I can see, there have been no updates in the past couple days to KDE PIM-related packages on my system.

I have tried to get KAddressBook to work with vCard directories - an effort which mostly seemed to work but was not portable. Most recently, I've set up a local Radicale server. Although KAddressBook was able to import my address book and upload to
Radicale, this seems to have been a one-off. Since then:

    1. New contacts created in KAddressBook do not upload to Radicale despite resyncs, restarts, and reboots.
    2. Moving contacts from one Radicale address book to another Radical address book from within KAddressBook causes KAddressBook to create duplicates.
    3. Clearing the cache in Akonadi console nuked the address book in KAddressBook. Fortunately, Radicale is, at this writing, untouched.
    4. I cannot find anything in the Apache, Radicale, uWSGI, System or Akonadi logs that would indicate what, if any, problem there is.

My Android on DAVx5 does sync to Radicale, so I know that at least one client works over the LAN.

I know that many former users of KDE PIM recommend "Ditch it. Akonadi does not, has not, nor will ever work." However, since I like the advertised features of KDE PIM, I'm hoping that diagnosing a configuration error or an upstream patch might fix the
problem enough for me to keep using KDE PIM rather than abandon it.

I can’t speak to using Radicale, but I sync both my address book and my calendar from Kontact (KAddressBook and KOrganizer) to a Davical server. I
am also running Testing and have been using this configuration for several years. It generally works well, although sometimes there are some glitches with Akonadi, especially when part of KDE has updated to a new version but
    part
    still hasn't.

It would appear that a re-boot solved the problem. I had tried logging out
of plasma but it obviously not enough, so after a re-boot functionality
    was restored.

What is your troubleshooting procedure when things go down? About 10 minutes after my message and renaming all the files in Radicale (for vanity reasons, I may do it again), it started syncing, I think.

What I'd like to do in these cases is force Akonadi to resync to DAV, abandoning any 'local' changes if it absolutely, positively refuses to upload them to the DAV server. But I'm open to softer methods to get Akonadi working.
