• Bug#1102359: libchardet: Wrong BSD-3-clause license

From Bastian Germann@21:1/5 to All on Tue Apr 8 10:00:01 2025
    Source: libchardet
    Version: 1.0.4-1.1
    Severity: serious
    Justification: Policy 12.5

The m4/ax_gcc_visibiliity.m4 stanza in d/copyright refers to BSD-3-clause, which has:

    """
On Debian systems, the complete text of the BSD 3 Clause License can
be found in the file `/usr/share/common-licenses/BSD', replacing
references to the University of California with the appropriate
    copyright holder.
    """

The actual license of that file also has a condition in clause 3 that
regulates the use of a specific URL. So please copy the license instead
    of referencing a different one.
