• Bug#1100836: brz: aborts with ZoneInfoNotFoundError('No time zone found

    From Martin@21:1/5 to All on Wed Mar 19 11:40:01 2025
    Package: brz
    Version: 3.3.10-1
    Severity: important
    X-Debbugs-Cc: Martin@Lichtvoll.de

    Dear Maintainer,

    Devuan Ceres which is based on Debian Sid. Package for "brz" is directly
    from Debian without any changes.

    brz aborts with

    Error: PyErr { type: <class 'zoneinfo._common.ZoneInfoNotFoundError'>, value: ZoneInfoNotFoundError('No time zone found with key CET'), traceback: Some(<traceback object at 0x7f6a913befc0>) }

    Just calling "brz" without parameters is enough, but original trigger was trying to run "brz diff".

    % ls -l /etc/localtime
    lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 33 11. Jan 2023 /etc/localtime -> /usr/share/zoneinfo/Europe/Berlin

    Command "date" displays "CET" as timezone.

    I am not aware of any other timezone related errors.

    Best,
    Martin

    This breaks bzr for me, so raising to RC.

    I see Ubuntu has applied a patch to fix this: https://launchpadlibrarian.net/784090668/breezy_3.3.10-1_3.3.10-1ubuntu1.diff.gz
    (and another to fix an equaly serious assertion failure, that you'll hit immediately after fixing this bug).
