Yesterday I had the idea to modify the problematic patch [1] so that it applies
on ppc64el only but not on powerpc and ppc64. This should at least fix the console problem.

This should fix the installer on powerpc and ppc64.
The installer is still
broken on ppc64el when installing on PowerKVM, but it seems that neither Debian's kernel maintainers nor IBM developers upstream care about this problem enough to actually fix it.
