• Bug#1106866: file: bad MIME type for broken ELF input

From test@21:1/5 to All on Fri May 30 18:40:01 2025
    Package: file
    Version: 1:5.46-5
    Severity: normal

    Dear Maintainer,

for some broken ELF input file reports a wrong MIME type, e.g.

    test@trixie:~/file-issue$ file --mime-type file-error-sample
    file-error-sample: application/x-executable, can't read section at -1

See the original bug report <https://bugs.astron.com/view.php?id=639> which also includes the aforementioned sample.

The issue has been resolved with commit <https://github.com/file/file/commit/a2be06dc1ed4969a8991223a93d448cec20493ab>, and it would be cool if it could be included in the final Trixie package.
