    SSE2 was introduced in the year 2000. Can't really argue that this
    is "bleeding edge".

    That was a side comment. The SSE2 issue comes from LLVM rather than
    from Rust, anyway. But the Rust ecosystem (like Go's and JS's) does
    make it difficult to maintain backward compatibility.
