What is "DFSG"?
What is "SPI"?I would assume that people who are interested in the DPL bits also know
Even the linked page on spi-inc.org does not explain what it is.

And by the way: "AI" is a marketing and sci-fi term. It is a thing that
does not exist. Experts, like Debian people are, shouldn't IMHO not take
over marketing terms but use correct technical terms; e.g. large
language models (LLM). "AI" does wake expectations at users.

Christian

Hello Christian,
DFSG refers to Debian Free Software Guidelines: https://wiki.debian.org/DebianFreeSoftwareGuidelines
And SPI refers to Software in the Public Interest:
https://www.spi-inc.org/ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Software_in_the_Public_Interest
I have wanted to contribute but have held off because there seem to be some nasty prima donnas waiting to pounce on newbies for making mistakes.

I’ve been a Debian Maintainer for a bit more than one year, and am on
my way to
become a Debian Developer. So I guess that counts as being relatively
new,
while still having had some time to get in touch with many people.
I have yet to meet with any of these "prima donnas" you are writing
about. My
experience with mentors has been overwhelmingly positive (I would not
have
candidated to become a Debian Developer otherwise).
I appreciate your input. Perhaps I have spoken out of turn.
