• Mdadm resync veryyyy slooow

    From Jean-Paul POZZI@21:1/5 to All on Sun Dec 1 21:50:01 2024
    Hello,

I am trying to resync an RAID1 array and it is very sloooow, here is the result of "cat /pro/mdstat" :

    Personalities : [raid1] [raid0] [raid6] [raid5] [raid4] [raid10]
    md0 : active raid1 sdb2[2] sdc2[1]
          1937757184 blocks super 1.2 [2/1] [_U]
          [>....................]  recovery =  0.0% (164480/1937757184) finish=434522.5min speed=74K/sec
          bitmap: 6/15 pages [24KB], 65536KB chunk

The time given is more than 300 days for that 1.8TB array, something is KO, but I can't see any weird message in the logs ...
    Any clue ?

    Thanks for advance.

    JP P

    Hello,
    This is not normal.
I'm no longer using a server with raid, but I remember experiences with software raid and mirrors of 2TB and 4TB.
This required a few hours, always less than a day, using a Core 2 duo server with sata 2. Drives were western digital green, blue and red. (I changed the drives several times).
Maybe your drives have wear and defective sectors ? Did you check their SMART status ?

    Bonjour,
