• Suspending my contribution to mentors

    Hello,

Since the debian team that is supposed to make debian welcoming, is
actually doing the very opposite, I decided to reduce the amount of
time I will dedicate to debian.

I will no longer be sponsoring uploads from now on.

While I was writing this email I saw that Phil Wyett has decided to
    stop contributing.

If I had not already decided to stop contributing, I would have
stopped anyway after seeing his email, because what he has been doing
has been extremely valuable and reviewing a package that he hasn't
approved is not something I would do anyway.

    Best of luck to everyone.

I feel like I’ve missed something. Is this something that has been building up over time on this mailing list that I’ve not seen or something that came out of debconf25?

    Thanks

See the recent thread on debian-devel entitled "Can the community team
remove packages or kick me out for not removing packages?".

    Dear Salvo,

I may not have been in contact with you on the mailing list but I really
feel sad for missing a sponsor.

I am not aware of which direction Debian is heading regarding welcoming new developers.

It is already quite difficult to gain a sponsor for Mr. Nobody through requesting other DD's unless you live on the same street as the sponsor by chance or if the sponsor happens to be the one who motivates you to be a
debian maintainer. This is the only way you can build a chain of trust and there is nothing wrong with it.

I hope and pray that you come to a resolution soon.

    Regards,
    Shahrukh.
