No, Firefox did not do that. It cannot install packages in your system.
apt show firefox-esr-l10n-gl

Recommends: hunspell-gl-es | hunspell-gl
My guess is that either firefox-esr-l10n-gl was installed to improve GL support or the package was pulled by firefox-esr-l10n-all.
