• Bookworm: Mouse cursor issues after upgrading to FireFox v128?

From local10@21:1/5 to All on Fri Oct 4 22:00:01 2024
    Hi,

After upgrading to Firefox v128 from v115, Firefox seems to have stopped using some mouse cursors as per the active KDE theme (the Oxygen White theme, in my case). For some reason, instead of showing the white arrow mouse cursor as per the theme, FF now
    shows a black mouse cursor.

Used to work fine in FF v115 before the upgrade.

    Any ideas? Thanks

I can't imagine it's related to your issue, but the current kernel on
Bookworm is 6.1.0-26 after a security update the other day. DSA 5782-1 https://lists.debian.org/debian-security-announce/2024/msg00195.html

I have upgraded to 6.1.0-26 since I sent out the first email but the issue is still there. Have researched it a bit since then and can provide a bit more info:
The issue appears to affect all mouse cursor themes (Adwaita, all Oxygen, etc) with the exception of Breeze cursor themes (maybe because I'm using Breeze global desktop theme?).
Only the first (and perhaps) the most important arrow mouse cursor is affected, the rest seem to work properly. For example, with the Oxygen White cursor theme active, FF v128 shows black arrow mouse cursor instead of the white arrow cursor, but also
correctly shows the white hand from the the Oxygen White theme when the cursor hovers over the links.
With the Breeze Light theme active, FF v128 correctly shows all mouse cursors, including showing the white arrow cursor when appropriate.
    Regards,

Tutanota screwed up my previous email so below is how it should've looked like: <<<

For what it's worth, I'm seeing the same thing on Bookworm under Xorg,
    Xfce 4.18 (xfce4 package version = 4.18), GTK 3.24.38 after upgrading
Firefox from 115.15.0esr-1~deb12u1 to 128.3.0esr-1~deb12u1. Initial
testing suggests that other applications are unaffected for me. I have
Xfce set to use the "DMZ (White)" mouse cursor theme.

The only other simultaneous package upgrades in my case are the libgsf
and oath-toolkit security upgrades, which seem unlikely to be relevant
    to this.

A data point: KeepassXC has been doing the same for me (with the same
mouse cursor theme, no less) for a very long time; I chalked that one
down to it being a Qt application in a GTK environment.

KeepassXC seems to be not affected by the issue for me, the mouse cursors are shown properly as the theme. FF v128 seems to be the only app that's affected so far for me.

I just got a notice about libgsf in a security mailing list:
