I would greatly appreciate it if you could recommend any active mailing lists, forums, or discussion groups where Linux server administrators regularly exchange ideas, troubleshoot issues, and share solutions.
Dear Experts,
I am an experienced Linux server administrator, having started my
journey with Red Hat Linux 6.0 in 1999. Over the years, I have worked
with various Linux distributions such as CentOS and Ubuntu Server,
addressing diverse requirements and applications. My past experience
includes configuring services like:
* *Sendmail SMTP server*
* *BIND DNS server*
* *FTP server*
* *Squid proxy server*
While I have had intermittent engagement with Linux systems over the
years, I am now eager to dive deeper into the intricacies of Linux
server administration. My goal is to enhance my skills and knowledge, enabling me to tackle more complex scenarios with confidence.
I would greatly appreciate it if you could recommend any active mailing lists, forums, or discussion groups where Linux server administrators regularly exchange ideas, troubleshoot issues, and share solutions.
Engaging with a community of experts would be invaluable as I embark on
this deeper exploration of Linux server administration.
Hello Muhammad!
and for more real-time interaction I like to hang out on the #linux channel on liberachat IRC servers,
or, if it's debian specific, on the #debian channel (also on liberachat). Some specific software communities prefer to use other IRC servers like oftc (#dovecot for example).
I also like to take text notes in an outliner software.
It saves me countless hours of search time.
Best,

Debian official IRC channels are now pretty much all on oftc. liberachat is fine - and you may find the same folk are also on #debian in both -
but you may well get directed to ask again in oftc.

This. Take notes. Before you go editing files to change things, copy the existing file to a backup copy. That way, you can always rename the backup copy and replace the edited file contents with the original file contents
as they were before you started changing anything.

Oh! thanks for the heads up!
I haven't been there since a little while now,
so I might have missed the migration.

I'd say, pick something that you are interested in and try to make it
work.
When you are stuck on something, just google your way out.

Have you looked at The Linux Professional Institute LPI
https://www.lpi.org/? I have their Linux Essentials and Security
Essentials certifications. If you are going to grow your skills then
growing them with certifications is a great idea.
Best regards,
