    Hi everyone,

Newbie here. I have a DVD Debian 11.6 Bullseye 64bit and installed it successfully on my PC. I have downloaded later versions of Debian and when I go to install nothing happens. Am I missing a step? Is it possible for you
to give me step by step instructions? Would greatly appreciate it

    Lots of details here:

Note that bookworm is the codename for major release 12.

Do you want to do a brand new installation, wiping your 11.6
installation, or upgrade from 11.6 to the later versions? In either
case, I recommend you stick with 12.9, bookworm.

"[N]othing happens" doesn't tell me much. Did you follow some
instructions? If so, which ones? Where are they, so we can read them.
And how far did you get? What didn't happen that you think ought to have happened? Or what happened that you think ought not to have happened?

There are plenty of instructions (of varying quality) already out there
on the Internet. Have you looked at the Debian Installation Guide?
Having recommended that you stick with bookworm, I suggest you try https://www.debian.org/releases/stable/installmanual

If your machine will have an Internet connection during installation, I
suggest the "netinst" image, the "small installation image" on https://www.debian.org/distrib/.

I usually take "newbie" to mean "I am new to Debian", so I would ask did you know the current production of Debian was Bookworm.? I was curious why you would install Bullseye?

Maybe you have been using Debian for a while, but are not familiar with the technical side of maintaining Debian?

successfully on my PC. I have downloaded later versions of Debian and
when I go to install nothing happens.

Do you have Internet access from your PC?

Or is your Debian PC isolated from the Internet? I have yet to learn how to update Debian computers which do not have access to the Internet.

The usual way to keep Debian updated is via an Internet connection, and running update commands.

Using the Internet is also usual to upgrade from an older version to a new version.

I could explain how I do version upgrades, once I know whether your PC has Internet or not.
