Make Synaptic resolve package upgrades like aptitude?

I generally use Synaptic package manager because I like the UI when searching and selecting packages to install. However, I find that the package resolution phase leaves a lot to be desired.
Because I use "sid", I regularly find myself in a situation where "Mark All Upgrades" proposes to remove dozens of packages. Generally, I think this is because some key package is not yet built. If I wait some days the upgrade tends to go smoothly.
Aptitude, on the other hand, is able to somehow pick out the subset of upgradeable packages that can be installed WITHOUT removing loads of packages.
So in these situations, I do use aptitude instead. It's a totally fine workaround. But it got me wondering: is there a way to configure Synaptic to behave like aptitude in this respect?
Synaptive has a preference for System upgrade that is labelled "Smart
Upgrade", which I have selected. So that's not it.
Thanks!
