You do not need to erase anything, the installation process will
overwrite whatever it needs. That includes the root data structures of
most anything that could already been there, so the rest, the data that
will not have been overwritten, will be mostly unusable without a lot of effort.

Before to do so, you want to make a backup of your data (basically your HOME directory)
    on an external support.

Note that if you just want to have a look on how Debian can work on your box, you want to play with a Debian live-cd.

I have a working install of 12.90. But am experiencing a minor hiccup.

When i plug-in my copy of 12.90, immediately l get all connection from
other servers in my local group drop there connections.

I'm at a loss how config this to stop?

It sounds like what you want is "dual boot" -- e.g. a bootable disk
drive with more than one operating system. To accomplish such, you need
to determine what firmware mode your computer is using -- typically
BIOS, UEFI, or UEFI Legacy -- and what partitioning scheme is on the
disk drive -- typically MBR or GPT. You will also need space on the
disk drive to put Debian. This typically means shrinking the Windows C: partition. Once you have accomplished those things, you will need the knowledge and skill to add a second operating system without breaking
the first. Going forward, you will need the knowledge and skills to trouble-shoot things when they do break.

While there are experts who succeed at dual-boot, I find my time is
better spent by putting mobile racks in my computers, or buying laptops
with accessible disk drives, and putting each operating system on its
own disk drive. Alternatively, I leave the factory operating system,
install a hypervisor, and add a virtual machine for each additional
    operating system.

Please open a terminal, run the following command, and copy and paste
the entire console session into a reply -- prompt, command entered,
    output displayed:

Please tell us about the "other servers", your "local group", what is connected, how you know the connections are dropped, and what you have configured beyond that provided by the Debian Installer and/or via a
    package manager.

It would be helpful if you could run commands in a terminal that
demonstrate what you are talking about, and then cut and paste your
    console session into a reply.
