• Try to bootstrap regular short team-meeting for discussion of open issu

From Salvatore Bonaccorso@21:1/5 to All on Thu May 16 09:00:01 2024
Hi Bastian, hi Diederik, and (regular) kernel team contributors,

Ben and I had yesterday a quick exchange on how to improve handling of packaging backlog, issues, merge requests and other issues in our
    team.

We think it would be valuable to handle such in timely matter (but
with no pressure, as we do voluntary work), to meet weekly, but in
short meetings. The focus of those meetings would be to work trough a
    put agenda, covering
    - current issues (one example could be handling of branches in our
packaging, or fallouts of major changes, etc ...),
    - Recently filled bugs which needs some attention
    - Open merge requests in Salsa

With regular, but shorts meetings this could help to stay on track for
those. We could try it as experiment for 2 or 3 times, and then
    evaluate if it is helpful.

    Thoughs?

    Regards,
    Salvatore

Better communication is needed, yes. So this sounds like a good idea.
We can try if this will help and if we can manage that.

Thanks all for the positive feedback. So I guess the next steps are:

    - propose some dates for the first meeting and a proposed recurrence
    (ideally weekly)
    - put together an initial agenda of items to look at

I come back to this in the next few days.

    Regards,
    Salvatore

So here goes the first proposal.

Lets meet for the first time on Wed, 29th May, at 21:00 CEST (19:00
    UTC).

I propose to do it on #debian-kernel@OFTC with MeetBot recording the
meeting and conclusions (has any of you experience running meetings
with MeetBot? If I'm intended to chair the meeting then I would
    appreciate some help with that).

    The first agenda could cover:

    - finding agreement on recurrence of meeting and timeslots, fixed days
    etc ...

    - discussion on recent filled and important open issues

    - review open merge requests

    - if not already covered: pending updates/work needed for kernel-team
packages (e.g. firmware-nonfree rebase, linux move to 6.9.y,
    preparation for 6.10~rcX in experimental)

    - other things requiring syncup with the team.

Thanks all and looking forward to get some movement in the kernel-team
    :)

    Regards,
    Salvatore
