  • [gentoo-dev] Packages up for grabs: media-gfx/gimp (with related media-

    Hello!

    I must confess that I don't have enough free time and energy to maintain the Gentoo media-gfx/gimp package.
    The last year I was not able to react quick enough for its issues and to report about issues to upstream too.
    So I decide to remove myself from gimp maintainer (see PR [1]).

    The Gimp 3.0.4 was already released and new developer version 3.1.2 was recently release too.
    The current "stable" Gimp-3 still has problem [2] that prevents package from being rekeywording [3],
    i.e. problem with building Gimp on musl-based systems.

    Great thanks to Sam James and to other gentoo developers and gentoo users for help with maintaining the Gimp package and provided patches and fixes for it!

    The following packages are up for grabs now:

    media-gfx/gimp
    media-libs/gegl
    media-libs/babl

    I really do have to thank you for your diligence with this and while I'm
    sorry to see you give it up, I completely understand (especially as
    development has picked up upstream with GIMP 3 being here now), and it's in-keeping with your careful nature to hand it over in a good state.
