What a beautiful thing it is to see bus-loads of illegal migrants arrive
into DC and Martha’s Vineyard. If this is what is needed to bring the US’s border crisis right to the doorsteps of the nation’s lawmakers then so be
    it.

Up until now, our lawmakers have been able to lie and pretend that the
border crisis either doesn’t exist or does exist but is a good thing.
Depending on which Democrat you speak to the border either is secure but shouldn’t be, or isn’t secure and that’s just great.

On Sunday we saw Kamala Harris being quizzed about the border that she
still hasn’t visited. Asked on “Meet the Press” whether the borders of the
US borders are “secure” she said they were. Well, at least I think that’s
what she said. As usual with Harris, it was hard to get a non-word-salad
answer out of her. But what about the 2 million illegal migrants who have entered the US this fiscal year alone, her interviewer asked? Still,
Harris insisted, the borders are secure.

It is the layer upon layer of lies that is so frustrating about all this.
An administration which constantly rails about lies in the media is
perfectly capable of creating a sea of lies itself.

After all, if the borders are secure why is the administration trying to
do deals with other countries to return migrants who apparently don’t
exist? If millions of people are not coming into the US why has President
Biden just been caught arranging a migrant resettlement deal with Haiti?

The deal that emerged this week is not pretty. Biden’s own former special
envoy to Haiti, Daniel Foote, revealed that the Biden administration
scuttled Haiti’s plans for free elections and backed the country’s
dictator in order to get the country to agree to accept deportees. If
Haitians are not flooding across the US border why did the US government
have to do such a grotty deal to return these illegal immigrants?

The same question comes from other news The Post reported this week. That
the White House has been secretly urging Mexico to take in more illegal migrants under the Title 42 health policy. Why does the White House have
to do a subterranean deal with Mexico if migrants aren’t flooding in from there? Why pile up lie upon lie?

The answer is because for the time being, they can. Because until very
recently the border crisis is something which was most affecting the
southern states. Biden, Harris and the rest of this administration thought
that so long as the crisis was just a crisis for Texas and Arizona then it
was a crisis they could turn their eyes away from.

So good on Gov. Abbott of Texas for sending two buses of migrants straight
from Del Rio to outside of the Vice President’s residence at the Naval Observatory in Washington, DC, Thursday morning. Perhaps now that her own street has up to 100 illegal migrants on it Harris can get a taste of the reality she has been trying to deny for so long. If she is not willing to
go to the border then the border can come to her.

It is even more satisfying to see Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis follow through
on his promise to bus illegal migrants to Martha’s Vineyard. On Wednesday,
two planes full of migrants were sent there by the governor, who pointed
out that Florida is not a sanctuary city. If rich liberals who live in
places like Martha’s Vineyard want to keep preening and voting for
“sanctuary city” status then they can experience the joys of living in one themselves.

Not all of the residents of the super-rich haven seem happy with the
results. One Martha’s Vineyard resident told the cameras yesterday, “At
some point in time they have to move to somewhere else. We don’t have the services to take care of 50 immigrants and we certainly don’t have the
housing. We’re in a housing crisis as we are on this island. We can’t
house everyone here who lives here and works here.” Most likely a housing crisis on Martha’s Vineyard is the desperate search for any house costing
    less than $10 million.

But seriously, do these people even hear themselves? Martha’s Vineyard
doesn’t have the services or ability to look after a mere 50 migrants? I’m
sure there are quite a few summer homes now lying empty. Well, why should
Texas and Arizona be forced to take care of millions?

The truth is that liberals have been able to get away with too much for
too long. They have failed to secure the border — or wished the border
away — while all the time expecting other people to bear the costs. Well,
now the costs and consequences are coming to them. Not before time.
