| Indian IT professionals who were affected by the recent tide of
| layoffs in the US are now scrambling for options to stay on in the
| country before their visa expires.
| Reports say that nearly 200,000 IT workers have been laid off since
| November last year. The Washington Post reports that as per some
| industry insiders, 30% to 40% of them are Indians who are in the
| country on H1B and L1 visas. These are non-immigrant visas under
| which workers can stay in the US for a stipulated amount of time.
