Overall, I don't believe I'm affected by ads, but apparently others
    are.

If a cost savings existed on a product of interest, I would consider.

I suspect younger generations would be affected most.

YMMV, based on where you are

Google has been gradually rolling out Chrome's "Enhanced Ad Privacy." That's the
technology that, unless switched off, allows websites to target the user with adverts tuned to their online activities and interests based on their browser histories.…

Ads don't really show cost savings anymore, they only exist to bug you
across multiple mediums. And in fact, tracking users has been shown to
be used to raise prices for customers who are more likely to be
    susceptible to higher prices.

I believe many people with limited budgets do catch on to being
    screwed.

Booking flights, for instance, might be cheaper the first time a
person visits a site. Coming back again, the cost may be higher. A
person needs to dump their cookies, and use a VPN, or a different VPN
    to get that lower price.

Amazon and/or resellers may overprice items...I've seen this too many
    times there, and other sites.

I sometimes buy industrial stuff, and I've seen items overpriced by
$500.00 and more for a $500.00 item at various sites. Price markup
    is way to high....

It's the new marketing game...the sky is the limit.

Simple enough to avoid... don't use Chrome!

Or if you do, install AdBlocker, uBlock Origin or something similar...
These days there's no need to see any ads, targeted or not.

There are more sites these days blocking access unless the adblocker
    is disabled.

I'm not opposed to paid advertising, but I want to see it as seen in newspapers, magazines, etc. Not flashing/etc shit....in your face
    crap needs to be eliminated.

I use Firefox, and also blocking add-ons. No Google anything for me.
No targeted tracking ads either, please. Duck-Duck-Go search... I've
used that exclusively for years. The only "Google" thing I "cheat" with
    is occasional YouTube.com.

Yeah, Firefox with uBlock Origin for me, no ads whatsoever... DuckDuckGo
    for search.

If the odd site wants me to turn off my ad blocker, goodbye. I close the
    page.

I've given a few sites exemption, only if they don't have pop-up
in-your-face advertisements. Automatic video playing advertisements are
    an immediate no-go.

Years ago, there were forums playing this in your face ads unless a
