Majorities say the political process is dominated by special
interests, flooded with campaign cash and mired in partisan warfare.
Elected officials are widely viewed as self-serving and ineffective.
A comprehensive new Pew Research Center study of the state of the
nation's politics finds no single focal point for the public's dissatisfaction. There is widespread criticism of the three branches
of government, both political parties, as well as political leaders
and candidates for office

The political class sucks donkeyballs.

But, but, look at the lovely Constitution!
Who was who said Democracy is the worst form of government
Americans' Dismal Views of the Nation's Politics
65% say they always or often feel exhausted when thinking about
politics
Americans have long been critical of politicians and skeptical of the
federal government. But today, Americans' views of politics and
elected officials are unrelentingly negative, with little hope of
improvement on the horizon.

Activities of Daily Living limit people's awareness.
What's more important, for instance, cooking a meal, or watching the
evening news?

can't be bothered with the news.

In radio days, more people listened...in earlier TV days (pre 1980s),
more people watched.
Today, there are too many diversionary activities, which were not
around in radio/TV days. As such today, we have technological zombies
who are politically clueless, along with other clueless souls voting.
Half of the junk you watch on TV or read is biased anyway.

is mostly propaganda.

And the WWW is all about engagement-clicking. Outraging you to keep
you long enough to sell some advert impressions.

I used to enjoy the local paper and reporting, but they wouldn't
reliably deliver it to my home. I trust that the AP is mostly neutral.

Changing the subject slightly, this totally-unnecessary government
shutdown is not going to improve anyone's opinion of their government's ability to govern. The fact that this is Repub against Repub is funny
except that it will impact the whole nation.
NEW PARTIES NOW. These two are worn out. (a.k.a. donkeyballs).

I honestly haven't been following the government shut-down. I did hear
the guys at work talking about it, but they are government employees
(air traffic controllers), so they aren't getting paid at the moment.

I'm honestly getting to the point of total burn-out on politics. As in,
I've essentially stopped caring. Feeling pretty "meh" about it.
