Americans' Dismal Views of the Nation's Politics

65% say they always or often feel exhausted when thinking about
    politics

Americans have long been critical of politicians and skeptical of the
federal government. But today, Americans' views of politics and
elected officials are unrelentingly negative, with little hope of
    improvement on the horizon.

Majorities say the political process is dominated by special
interests, flooded with campaign cash and mired in partisan warfare.
Elected officials are widely viewed as self-serving and ineffective.

A comprehensive new Pew Research Center study of the state of the
nation's politics finds no single focal point for the public's
dissatisfaction. There is widespread criticism of the three branches
of government, both political parties, as well as political leaders
    and candidates for office

    Yep.

Who was who said Democracy is the worst form of government, except for
all the others? If I had to reduce my complaint to a single sentence,
I'd blame the tribal political party system in a contest with real
monetary incentives, coupled with voter apathy.

It was the Law of the Sea, they said. Civilization ends at the
waterline. Beyond that, we all enter the food chain, and not always
    right at the top.
    Hunter S. Thompson

So, when evaluating a government, those at upper levels of the food
chain are satisfiled, but those at lower levels, a different story.

I prefer USA, rather than China and Russia....

Bingo! Politics are exhausting. Regular people feel that there is
nothing they can do to fix it, including voting. The younger generation overwhelmingly is losing interest, myself included. I simply couldn't
care less about national politics anymore.

Someone please let me know when they either disband the current two
political cults, or when a feasible third party candidate starts getting
votes. I don't really care which way it goes, one or the other.

Obviously, cooking a meal is more important. That said, I could easily
keep up with cooking and watching the news, but for the most part, I
can't be bothered with the news. It's always bad news, and it's also
tiring, just like politics. Anymore, if I don't read it here, and no
one tells me at work, I probably don't know (or care). I have enough
things to stress over, which aren't national politics or news.

Half of the junk you watch on TV or read is biased anyway. TV politics

Changing the subject slightly, this totally-unnecessary government
shutdown is not going to improve anyone's opinion of their government's
ability to govern. The fact that this is Repub against Repub is funny

I honestly haven't been following the government shut-down. I did hear
the guys at work talking about it, but they are government employees
(air traffic controllers), so they aren't getting paid at the moment.

I'm honestly getting to the point of total burn-out on politics. As in,
I've essentially stopped caring. Feeling pretty "meh" about it.

This would be a great time to ask the former speaker of the House about
whether his view of politics is dismal at present.
