This ad business really sucks....on web browsers, like Opera/Chrome on
various sites, its in your face advertising at top, bottom, and sides.

I seriously doubt these adverts motivate people to buy, buy, & buy the
    products shown.

I just got an email from Amazon alerting me as a customer. Huge pitch:
"Prime delivers compelling value, blah blah blah." Two options:
$3/month more for an ad-free version, or do nothing, and enjoy ads for
the current price. Apparently this is "necessary so Amazon can invest
in new content" blah blah blah. There's a third option of course, flip
Jeff "BellEnd" Bezos the Bird and leave the platform, while he enjoys
blasting off into space on his penis-shaped rocket ship while his
hottie latina trophy wife smiles at him from below.

Wikipedia Foundation, who is also sitting on a huge pile of cash, is
also suddenly desperate that I pay them. (And I probably would, if
    they weren't already pretty cash-rich).

Pity thee poor, struggling, billionaire platforms. And me here trying
to pay the bills and clock in a regular paycheck.

I think adverts on a paid streaming service are a bad idea and
hopefully people vote with their wallets and cancel their
subscriptions. I have cancelled my Disney+ because of the adverts and
Amazon Prime will be next. (Especially as all my Christmas deliveries
are in!) Nobody wants to see adverts and if you are paying a monthly subscription you shouldn't have to.

There are too many streaming service competing with each other and
paying extra for the no ads plans makes most of those services poor
    value for money now.

Years ago, forums attempted to generate revenue via ads, and if a
person gave the site owner some $$, then no ads in your face. But
using an ad-blocker took care of this ad problem.

I have no idea if these forum owners made much, but the video
streaming services who do it are doing the "me too" gambit.

Amazon already has a colossal ads business and will extend it to Prime
