Cher Files for Conservatorship of Son Elijah Blue Allman

Cher is seeking to be the sole conservator of her 47-year-old son
Elijah Blue Allman's estate, claiming he is "substantially unable to
    manage his financial resources."
    ...
    ...
The 77-year-old goes on to detail that Elijah --whose father was late
musician Gregg Allman--cannot handle his finances due to his alleged
    substance abuse issues.

"Elijah is entitled to regular distributions from the Trust, but given
his ongoing mental health and substance abuse issues," the filing
notes, "[Cher] is concerned that any funds distributed to Elijah will
be immediately spent on drugs, leaving Elijah with no assets to
provide for himself and putting Elijah's life at risk."

    As
a concerned individual, I wholeheartedly support Cher's decision to
seek conservatorship of her son, Elijah Blue Allman. It is evident
that this decision stems from her love and care for her son, and her
    desire to protect his well-being.

Cher's primary concern is to safeguard Elijah's financial resources
from being squandered due to his alleged substance abuse issues. By
seeking conservatorship, she aims to ensure that Elijah's funds are
managed responsibly, providing him with the necessary support and
stability. This is a prudent and responsible action, considering
Elijah's ongoing struggles with mental health and substance abuse,
which may impair his ability to make sound financial decisions.

Furthermore, Cher's decision highlights the need to address Elijah's
mental health and substance abuse issues. Conservatorship can provide
a legal framework for Cher to access appropriate treatment and
interventions for Elijah, helping him manage these challenges
effectively. This, in turn, can contribute to Elijah's overall
well-being and improve his quality of life.

It is important to recognize that seeking conservatorship does not
diminish Elijah's autonomy or rights. It is a legal arrangement that
aims to provide support and protection for individuals who may be
unable to manage their own affairs due to various factors.
Conservatorship allows Cher to make financial decisions on Elijah's
behalf, ensuring that his best interests are prioritized. However, it
is crucial to note that conservatorship should not be viewed as a
permanent solution. The ultimate goal is to help Elijah regain his
ability to manage his affairs independently, and the conservatorship
can be terminated once this is achieved.

As an outsider looking in, I commend Cher for her courage and
dedication to her son. Seeking conservatorship is a difficult and
emotional decision, but it demonstrates her unwavering commitment to
supporting Elijah and ensuring his well-being. I believe that this
decision is in Elijah's best interests and will provide him with the
necessary framework to address his challenges and improve his life.

Children having a parent in the limelight tend to have issues. Being
raised in an enveironment where Pandora's box was opened to explore,
it's no surprise Allman was using drugs at age 11. Further, busy
parents tend to let others (boarding schools, etc) raise their
children, which can exacerbate a child's behavior.

Tidbit - "At the luxury Sunset Boulevard hotel, where John Belushi
died of a drug overdose, Cher's son, Elijah Blue Allman, often looked
'messy, like he was a homeless person living on the streets,' a staff
member told a news outlet." https://www.mercurynews.com/2023/12/28/for-six-months-chers-son-appeared-strung-out-on-drugs-at-chateau-marmont-needed-a-caretaker/
