Breaking it down in to simple terms, is that not the plan of any
business that wants its products to be popular?

Being ahead in design/function features is one aspect, but when not
allowing others to share in common features common to all is another
    thing.

It's all very well saying that but if either of us ran a big
successful business we'd do exactly the same. We wouldn't want
to share any potential profits with rivals.

Apple get stick because simply because they are Apple, just as
Microsoft get stick because they're Microsoft, Google because
they are Google or Meta because they are Meta... (etc.)
Companies don't get to be THAT big by playing nice with the
    competition.

As a corporate CEO, shareholders interests are paramount generally. In
a small town, a company CEO may look after community interests over
    profit from time to time.

    successful business

One of those in the "eyes of the beholder" view. Relative to what
    metrics is the subjective aspect.

Apple get stick because simply because they are Apple,

Harvard business school might teach them "the sky is the limit" until
caught. In other words, evaluate consequences vs profits.

    Amoral CEOs practice this....

"The Justice Department said in a release that to keep consumers
buying iPhones, Apple moved to block cross-platform messaging apps,
limited third-party wallet and smartwatch compatibility, and disrupted
non-App Store programs and cloud streaming services." https://www.cnbc.com/2024/03/21/doj-sues-apple-over-iphone-monopoly.html

Competition on a level playing field....USB-C should have been done
years ago...good for the environment, good for merchants stocking
these cables in different lengths, etc. Now, last I recall, you have
to buy Apple's USB-C cable if you want faster transfer speeds.

    Robert Kelner @robkelner
When it comes to criminality and an attempt to overthrow the US
Government, no, as RNC Chair your job is not to "take one for the
team." The job is to be an American patriot. What an absolutely
    outrageous statement. What a disgrace.

    Ron Filipkowski @RonFilipkowski
Ronna on why she is saying now for the first time that she disagrees
with Trump on pardoning J6ers: "When you're the RNC Chair, you kind of
take one for the whole team, right? Now I get to be a little bit more
    myself."
