    I'm reminded that the Founders worried about the general public casting
    votes, as most would be too uneducated to trust with the important
    business of running a democracy. Of course, the other model doesn't
    work either because you wind up with an aristocracy capturing the vote
    and voting for their narrow interests. In this model you get dumbasses
    getting manipulated massively into voting for the interests of the
    elite. Same outcome.

    That George Carlin video posted yesterday is totally relevant to this
    thread.

    I believe one relevant issue is Christian leaders who want their flock
    to vote this way, without considering national or worldly consequences
    if their candidate(s) win. It is egocentric thinking...and they and
    select politicians are using an esprit de corps method to persuade
    these folks.

    It's not the general public, but amoral "leaders" using trickery.

    These games played could be explained in school systems....
