Hong Kong Braces for Super Typhoon as Yagi Heads Toward China
Hong Kong is considering issuing its third-highest warning as Super
Typhoon Yagi skirts the city and tracks toward southern China, with
coastal regions bracing for destructive winds and heavy rain.
Yagi has maximum sustained winds of 120 knots (222 kilometers) per
hour and could strengthen to 130 knots before hitting China's southern
coast, according to the Joint Typhoon Warning Center. The system is
currently equivalent to a Category 4 hurricane on the five-step
Saffir-Simpson scale.
