I do not think it is unreasonable to hold parents responsible for their children. I know in sweden there have been talks of fining parents if
their children don't go to school. An excellent idea I think!

State of Georgia does not have a secure storage law to prevent
    unauthorized access by children. https://everytownresearch.org/rankings/law/secure-storage-or-child-access-prevention-required/

Weapons were accessible, and in the previous year, the father was
informed about his son's "free speech" ("shoot up a middle school").

No excuses for this father...he was warned, and failed to act.

Mother of accused Georgia high school shooter has extensive criminal
    record
    ...
    ...
Marcee Ann Gray, 43, has faced prosecution in Barrow, Fulton, Forsyth
and Ben Hill counties for charges including domestic violence, drug
possession, property damage and traffic violations, multiple sources
    reported.

Her criminal record seemingly began in March 2007 on five
vehicle-related misdemeanors for reckless driving, improper right turn
and DUI, court records obtained by The Independent show.

In 2008, she pleaded guilty and paid a $600 fine before receiving 12
months probation and 40 hours of community service, according to court
records in Fulton County. Her probation was completed in August 2010.

Additionally, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported an auto dealer
sued her in 2019 for writing a bad check as a down payment.

Most recently, she was arrested on felony drug possession charges in
November 2023 after police said she was caught in her car with a
"glass jar with a crystal-like substance known to be methamphetamine", according to an arrest warrant from Barrow County.

Hmm... some people might call me socialist, but I do agree with you on
    this one.

In a relative sense, based upon law, this is true. But otherwise
    (bears no responsibility), unknown.

Her DUI incidents (etc) may have been related to methamphetamine
usage. Meth heads tend to self-destruct, sooner or later, with acts
similar to hers (domestic violence, drug possession, property damage,
[bad checks] and traffic violations). On the other hand, some are
capable of becoming a typical person once the habit is kicked.
