In 1997, Apple was just 90 days away from bankruptcy before a $150
million investment from its rival, Bill Gates and Microsoft, saved the
company. Today, Apple is worth over $3 trillion, and is currently the
most valuable company in the world.

    Competition is healthy.

Gates already knew if Apple went down then it would be him against IBM
or even worst AT&T. That is an even worst rival.

Apple was ( and still is ) a novelty computer. They look good, rename everything, and is meant for people who knows nothing about computers
    ( outside of programmers ).

OSX is literally OSNext. Next as in Unix ( get the rhyme ). Apple OS
literally stopped around OS9 aka OS8. By which is literally a lawsuit
    for not calling it OS8.

OSX is berkly ( licensed BSD ), and literally Unix ( like Linux ).
    Everything else is just icing.

Apple did one thing. Made the idea of purchasing something you can not
    own.

Apple computers and OS series are fudged up. They all are Unix and all
can work with any hardware. All they need are the drivers. Computers
can be upgraded via sodering iron and programming controllers ( which
is literally txt file editing ). Apple makes you work harder for what
    Intel provides for you easy.

Any Windows setup along side any Apple setup of any year and windows
    would still win.

When it was DOS that was another thing all together.

Only thing positive is if your computer scientist and run lab
experiments. A good chance the older machines have use for you.
