    meme about Internet anonymity which began as a caption to a cartoon
    drawn by Peter Steiner, published in The New Yorker on July 5, 1993


    1993 ??? The "pilgrims" had not arrived, but there were BBSs, Delphi
    (online service) , Usenet, etc then. Most of the public were clueless
    then about these services.
