I bought two items via desktop computer from an online merchant using
Google Chrome, and when PayPal payment came due, I didn't have to
login. My Pixel 8a is never involved in direct online transactions
(except for PayPal verification), so I suspect Google Chrome "knew"
about my Pixel 8a, so Chrome somehow did the login to PayPal.

By mid 1990s, ISPs were selling our data (name, address, email
address, etc), which was used for building an email database, and I
    suspect also for marketing.

I know of one business that uses an email database to determine who
    you are.

Yes, Google makes money from law enforcement requests, I sure. And of
    course, from ad revenue.

I use a Google Pixel 7 phone and it records every word it hears. Sometimes you can read what is being said as it's being said. Can't figure out how to stop it (I can temporarily but not permanently) and don't know what it does with the data it collects. I do know ads pop up on my phone and laptop for whatever I may be discussing that day.

Shudder! How can you live like that? I recommend this phone:

    https://www.gsmarena.com/nokia_110_4g-10965.php

It works great! =) Note that they can still triangulate you, but it won't
send them any data from apps.

Government's function these days is to know their "customers."

Big Brother knows about your details....in one way, or another. Unless
a person does cash only, and uses others' ISPs, then BB knows only a
few details, if they report their income to BB.

I recommend freetube. It's a local skin that interfaces with youtube. I
imagine that it shields you from some of their tentacles. I'm happy with

I rather suspect Youtube has "device fingerprinted" your setup, but I
