    Houston's main airports remain closed

Winter weather forced the closure of Houston's two main airports,
causing numerous flight cancellations, primarily impacting United
    Airlines and Southwest Airlines.

Airlines proactively canceled flights ahead of the storm, anticipating operational disruptions and hazardous road conditions.

The effectiveness of these preparations will depend on the speed of
airfield and road clearance once the weather improves.

Governors in Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia and Florida have

The Tennessee Valley Authority asked customers to voluntarily conserve electricity Tuesday afternoon, according to Memphis Light, Gas and
    Water.

MLGW posted on social media just before 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 21, that
TVA is asking customers to conserve electricity voluntarily, effective immediately.

Conserving electricity means turning thermostats to 68 degrees or
below, unplugging unused appliances, and avoiding running the washer,
dryer, dishwasher and other appliances that use a lot of electricity.

he call for conservation comes as frigid temperatures grip the region
and have forced electricity demand near all-time highs.

MLGW announced earlier Tuesday that TVA could see peak all-time
electricity demand Wednesday morning, Jan. 22. It said customers would
    be asked to conserve power.

The way weather patterns are these past few years, soon people from the

Just south of your location, I would prefer living on the eastern side
of Cascade Mountains during the winter season.

Some will still say that there is no climate change

This is the truth. There is no man made climate change. It is natural processess. In the words of Trump, "drill baby, drill"!

I tend to agree with you for the most part. I do believe that man has contributed somewhat to climate change, but much is just Mother Nature at play. I notice we never hear anything about the Ozone Layer nowadays.

Fair enough, in nit picking mode, yes, my house affects the environment
around it, a city does, or a village with 500 fireplaces. But this I would
    hope is common sense.

A beaver affects the environment, as do termites. The only one that does
not is someone who is dead.

As for the ozone layer the common argument is that the government fixed
the problem, and it is solved. I have no idea if that is true or not, but
that is what I get in return when I bring it up.

I saw photos of grown men throwing snowballs at each other in the
streets of New Orleans. Likely, that was the first time they saw snow
in their 30+ years. It's business as usual in Ohio... The low
    yesterday was -7F ... Brr!
